Hi Hasan,
I am having a problem with getting past the initial WordPress setup. I've just spent a lot of time searching for answers, but nothing has fixed my issue.
Here is my process:
I followed your tutorial on installing WP on Contabo step by step exactly. The only thing different was that there is no wp-config file in my html (that we renamed from "wordpress") folder, only the wp-config-sample file. Initially I just filled out the wp-config-sample file with my database information I created from your tutorial (using localhost as host name) and secret keys without changing the file name, and when I got to the WordPress setup page, after I put in my database name, username, password and host name, I got the message "Error establishing a database connection".
I then tried changing the file name to "wp-config" and got the message "Sorry, I need a wp-config-sample.php file to work from. Please re-upload this file to your WordPress installation." So recreated the default wp-config-sample file and added my own wp-config file with the database information, but I am back to the "error establishing a database connection" message.
Are you aware of anything I may be doing wrong? I've searched on other forums for similar issues and looked at WordPress's own tutorial for setting it up, but I don't see where I am going wrong. Do I need to put the port number in to the host name? Do I need to clear or reset anything because of the wp-config-sample issue? I see that in your video, your folder does not have the wp-config-sample file in there. Is that normal?
Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate your in-depth tutorials SO much and I am hoping this is just a simple fix!
Thank you so much,
Natalie
